Mohammed Alshaikh
Mohammed Alshaikh (b. 2003, Russia) is a Palestinian pianist who began his musical studies at age nine at the Barenboim-Said Music School in Ramallah. He later studied at the Magnificat Institute in Jerusalem with Emma Spitkovsky, continued at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance under Professor Oxana Yablonskaya, and is currently studying with Professor Michael Wendeberg at the Barenboim-Said Akademie in Berlin.
Mohammed has won numerous international prizes, including the Grand Prix at the International Concurso de Piano Villahermosa (Mexico, 2016), First Prize at the Chopin Competition for Young Pianists (Estonia, 2016), and Second Prize at the Szafarnia Chopin Competition (Poland, 2018). In 2018, he also received the Solange Jospé First Prize at the Voice of Music “Young Artists Competition” in Jerusalem, leading to a recital invitation in Hong Kong. More recently, he won First Prize at the “Music of the World” Festival-Contest (Jerusalem, 2023) and the Domenico Scarlatti International Piano Competition (Sicily, 2024), as well as the Special Prize at the Eurogio Piano Award 2025 and Second Prize at the Isidor Bajic Piano Memorial Competition 2025.
He has performed internationally in Taormina, Venice, Budapest, Warsaw, Boston, and Novosibirsk, and has appeared at festivals such as Moscow Meets Friends and the Trans-Siberian Art Festival. He has been featured on Israeli, French, and Italian televisions and on From the Top (USA), and is the subject of the documentary The Pianist from Ramallah.
Mohammed has also participated in renowned masterclasses such as Tel-Hai and Morningside Music Bridge, working with distinguished pianists including Daniel Barenboim, Murray Perahia, Arie Vardi, among many others.
