Ashton Lim is an arts administrator and cellist whose work spans arts leadership, performance, and music education. He joined Morningside Music Bridge in 2026, bringing a longstanding commitment to supporting the development of young musicians and the organizations that serve them.

From 2024–2026, Ashton served as Executive Director of the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra, providing strategic and organizational leadership to one of Canada’s longest-standing youth orchestra programs. Previously, he spent three years with the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festivals, helping guide the organization out of the pandemic and through its centenary celebrations. Across these roles, his work has centred on strengthening organizations and expanding opportunities for the next generation of musicians.

As a professional cellist, Ashton has performed regularly with the Canadian Opera Company, National Ballet of Canada, Santa Fe Opera, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Turning Point Ensemble, Vancouver Opera Orchestra, and Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. He was previously a member of the New World Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas and the Sarasota Opera Orchestra.

Education and mentorship have remained central throughout Ashton’s career. He has led community engagement programs with the New World Symphony, coached students at the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico, and taught and mentored musicians at the Academia Filarmónica de Medellín in Colombia. He is also a faculty member at the Vancouver Academy of Music.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Ashton began his studies with Audrey Nodwell at the Vancouver Academy of Music and completed his ARCT in Cello Performance. He holds degrees from Mount Royal Conservatory, the University of Calgary, Northwestern University, and the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music. His principal teachers were John Kadz, Hans Jørgen Jensen, Andrés Diaz, and Desmond Hoebig. Ashton has been generously supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.
